7 Reasons Why WordPress Is The Only Platform To Power Your Website
According to an article published on WhoIsHostingThis.com, 35% of all websites in existence today are powered by WordPress. You may be wondering, what is WordPress and why should you use it for your business website? Well…you’re in luck!
In techy geek talk, WordPress is an open-source Content Management System (CMS) written in PHP (a type of scripting language). In simple terms, that means WordPress is a flexible tool to create any kind of website. Here are 7 reasons why WordPress is the only platform you should use to build your website.
1. No Project Is Too Big Or Too Small
WordPress can be used to create a simple 1-page website, a 500,000 page online news publication site and community…or anything and everything in-between. Since the platform is always being updated by its community of developers, it will grow and evolve with your business.
2. Unlimited Functionality
You can design your own website from scratch or install a pre-built theme when using WordPress. Regardless if you go the custom or pre-built theme route, you’re able to customize the site to your exact specifications. There are thousands of themes available (free & paid) to choose from. There are also “Plugins” which can add different components to your site, such as calendars, online schedulers, contact forms etc. This gives you the ability to modify every part of your site.
3. Other Platforms Are Extremely Limiting
With Do-It-Yourself (DIY) platforms like Wix, Weebly and Squarespace, they lock down elements that you cannot change. For example, I recently was working with a client who wanted to integrate a MailChimp pop-up box (to gain email newsletter subscribers) on his WIX website. While the functionality he wanted was quite straight forward in nature, and very easy to do through a WordPress website, we were unable to complete this in WIX. Their platform is so tied down that we couldn’t customize it to our exact needs.
4. Continuously Updated
Like I mentioned in #1, WordPress is always being updated by its developers. They are working to fix bugs/glitches, patch up security vulnerabilities and keep up with the latest technology landscape. On average, a new version of WordPress is released every couple of weeks.
Optimized for Search Engines
WordPress offers several built-in features like, title tags, meta descriptions, alternative text for images etc. In addition, they have as external applications such as plugins built specifically to boost SEO, to help your site rank higher in search results.
6. Built to Grow With You
As your business grows, your website needs to grow too. It’s essential. No one can predict the future, but I want your business to be built for long-term success. By using WordPress, your website is built on a solid foundation. You will be agile and flexible to take advantage of whatever opportunities arise in the months and years to come.
7. No Need To Fully Redesign Your Site
It used to be commonplace to need to redesign your website every few years. I used to recommend a website redesign every 3 to 5 years, but that is no longer the case. If you use WordPress, coupled with a well-vetted and regularly updated theme, you will be able to continuously update your website, so it grows with you for years and years to come.
The opposite is true for DIY platforms. At some point, your business will outgrow capabilities of that platform and you will have to rebuild it on WordPress. Save the money now and built it on WordPress from the get-go!
