Website Accessibility

Let’s Start With The Basics

According to the CDC, one in four Americans has a disability. Website Accessibility means that anyone who visits your website can interact with it to its fullest extent – regardless of their disability or level of impairment.

With additional accessibility laws, lawsuits, and an ever-changing landscape, we advise all clients to have an Accessibility Widget on their website.  An Accessibility Widget (see the icon on the bottom of this page?) allows you to add specific accessibility functionality to your current website.

For example, the ability to increase font size on a page, adding color contrast, reading text out loud on a page etc just to name a few.

Avoid Potential Lawsuits

There are individuals and corporations who actively seek out websites that are not accessible, and their aim is to bring a lawsuit against the business for its inaccessibility. Entities may be fined up to $75,000 for an initial ADA violation and $150,000 for subsequent violations.

Most small businesses do not have the budget to hire an accessibility attorney and an accessibility consultancy to make the necessary changes on their website. I have seen fees range from $15-30k or more to adhere to the regulations and laws and stay up to date.

Meet AccessiBe, The Website Accessibility Solution.

To be proactive about this issue, we’ve partnered with a Website Accessibility service called AccessiBe – a fully automated website accessibility solution for ADA & WCAG compliance.

Here’s a quick 3 minute video on how it all works.

If AccessiBe sounds like a good solution, the service costs $49/month, and we are charging a one-time setup fee of $200 to help you get it setup, configured and tested on your website.
